In an ongoing legal dispute between Kopenhagen and Cacau Show involving the use of the name "Língua de gato," both chocolate brands presented arguments to defend, on one hand, the exclusivity of the term; and on the other, the public domain of the expression, which would be generic as it is used worldwide to denote elongated chocolate in the shape of a cat's tongue. The clash, which initially ruled against the exclusive use of the expression, began after Cacau Show announced the launch of Panettone Miau – with milk chocolate in the shape of a cat's tongue. Both parties have grounds for their defenses, and the objective here is not to take sides but to discuss how intellectual property impacts the creation of Naming.
